Report of the workshop from the view of the moderator

This workshop is offered in English and German in the project "active ICT". We first started a pilot test for the German version of our workshop with eight participants, because there have not been enough registrations for the English part. The aim of the workshop is to show how a project management and online collaboration could take place by using open source programs

We started with Skype/Mikogo and a small exercise with Posterous. The participants had to present information about their own place with pictures und with a small audio file and to give feedback by twitter. The evaluation showed that Skype. Mikogo and Posterous were accepted very quickly. Twitter was used very sceptically; it seems easier to use email.
The next step was collaboration in small groups and using Google docs. The participants preferred to use the old way of using Word and download later the file to Google docs, it was difficult to use only Google docs and to share the documents. Planning a project by using this tool  was only possible after many explanations. The acceptance of the use of Google calendar was not very good, this was astonishing as some participants are not free all the time.
The next step was the collaboration in groups to plan their coporate project.

Tuija invited me to a Finish meeting in Second Life

Tuija wrote to Maximus and me: "Wednesday 2.9. is approaching and Sastamala college has a pretty nice participation in a microseminar on Social media in teaching. The participants are language teachers, coordinators at summer university, some senior learners and two headmasters.

The seminar programme says "Contaccting Europe on Skype" at 14:15-15:00 Finnish time, 13:15- German + Italian time. Can I ask you both to be online on Skype at that time, please? My plan is that I will invite you both to a conference at the same time and at the same conference together with the seminar participants, them hearing you through a loudspeaker and speaking through a microphone. There are people in the audience who speak 1) English, 2) German and 3) Spanish (and Finnish, Swedish, Estonian & Russian - I'll check for Italian, too).

As an extra note: I would like to invite you to participate in a Second Life introduction on Second Life at 13:00 German and Italian time in this address:

you can see here some pictures of this event. The name of my avatar is utah Nirvana

You can also see a screen

skype meeting with the Finnish German language group of Sastamala

7.th of April, we started a session in two different groups: Helga explained  the way how election take place in Germany, depending on the non centralistic system ( Federal republic) in our country. The others group had a look at pictures of Turku or spoke about their live. All participants worked from their home together. We remark the the following difficulties :
It seems to be difficult to persuade all to use the newest Skypesoftware ( Skypesoftware  is changing very quick) and Mikogosoftware.
It is important not to use "Mikogo" starting in MS Windows at the beginning ( no sign at the Mikogo setting "load mikogo at startup, which is only visible of Mikogo user with a registration...). Helga used in the first group Mikogo, in the second group she gave the link to the Posterous slo-workshop, to which she had sent the presentation before. Everybody had to start this webpage from her/ his computer, so there had been a better qualitiy in the sound by using only skype together.
In any case it depends on the broadband connection.

18.03.2009 Meeting with students of the Cardinal August Hlond Upper Silesian College of Pedagogical Education in Mysłowice

Mr Luis Ochoa , the  director of International Relations Office and  Uta Krope from SLO had a Skype meeting with students of the Cardinal August  Hlond Upper  Silesian College  of Pedagogical Education in Mysłowice about how to use the tool "Mikogo". Mikog is a nice web 2.0 tool for screen sharing. The students  followed the different use of Mikogo by a projector presentation in their collegeroom. Uta Krope ( at home in Kiel) started the meeting with a short Power Point introduction about SLO, how SLO uses  "Mikogo" for their lessons, example by a short informations about Germany, special Kiel and Schleswig-Holstein. After that the students  followed  a web tour about the use of a microblog ( informations about a visit in Rezekne (LU)  http://krope.posterous.com). to show how easy a microblog could be used this text was send by eMail to another microblog and the students were asked to write comments in this microblog. Also the use of another program "audacity" was shown as an example to explain the use of software. The different use with project partners of "Activeict" in language course  was explained.Uta Krope
